Uli Hoeness has admitted the club were wrong to sack Julian Nagelsmann in a hasty decision.

Bayern Munich chief executive Uli Hoeness has told Ufabet-Online on Tuesday that sacking Julian Nagelsmann as coach of the Bavarians in March 2023 was a mistake by the Bavarian giants.

Asked whether the bigger mistake was the sacking of Nagelsmann or the hiring of Tuchel, Hoeness replied: ‘Of course the hasty sacking of Nagelsmann, which the Supervisory Board had not agreed on for a long time, the Supervisory Board considered as if it had been an unavoidable event.’

‘And that creates a sense of unrest at a time when we have won all three titles. It’s not a bad situation. Who knows what would have happened if Julian had had this opportunity? I would have liked these things to have been handled with more patience.’

After being sack by Bayern Munich, the German Football Federation appointed Nagelsmann as the new coach to replace Hansi Flick and he restore the German Eagles to playing beautiful football again. 

Asked about his troubled relationship with Tuchel during his time at Bayern Munich, Hoeness criticised Tuchel for not developing young players before he left the club to become England manager, and Hoeness called Tuchel’s time at the Allianz Arena a disaster.

‘Personally, our relationship was good until the end, but in many ways he had a completely different perspective on leading the team. He also wanted to sign quite a few players. We wanted to try to work more with our own players in the medium term.’

‘When you think about the high-price players who are call up over and over again, every time we have an injury, we call up a new player. It’s a constant conversation about the players. I’ve never heard that from Vincent [Kompany].’
