Benfica have confirmed that the club have not reached an agreement with Real Madrid over the transfer of 22-year-old left-back Alvaro Carreras.

Benfica president Rui Costa has denied reports that the Lisbon side have reached an agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of 22-year-old left-back Alvaro Carreras.
Real Madrid had previously agreed personal terms with Carreras สนใจสมัคร? คลิกที่นี่เพื่อเริ่มต้น and Los Blancos were hoping to seal the deal for €40m. But Benfica are adamant the left-back will only leave if his €50m release clause is met.
‘Carreras played with us in the Club World Cup and he is a Benfica player. We have not reached an agreement with Real Madrid for him,’ Rui Costa said. ‘The offers have not satisfied us, in the case of Alvaro and for the other players.’
Benfica boss Bruno Lache, meanwhile, said in a similar vein to the club president: ‘First of all, there must be an offer that Benfica accepts, no matter who the player is. An agreement is necessary.’
‘With his performances, Alvaro can play for any team in the world.’
‘In the last 10 or 15 years, every player who has left Benfica, whether Portuguese or foreign. Has had the ability to make a name for themselves at other clubs.’
The president was also asked about a possible return of Joao Félix. A former Benfica player currently under contract with Atlético de Madrid. “If we could bring back players from our academy with the quality of Joao, of course we’d love to,” he admitted. But he was honest about how tough it would be: “The transfer fee and wages are very high. There’s nothing right now that makes me think it’s doable.”
With all that said, Benfica are holding firm in the market and keeping things open regarding Álvaro Carreras. While focusing fully on making a strong showing at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
